A Travellerspoint blog

Dubrovnik, same Bat time, same Bat channel

Sun, Sea and Scandanavians

sunny 32 °C

Finally the blog you have all been waiting for, since we last checked in with the rampant blog checkers out there we have travelled further down the trail and made it to Dubrovnik in southern Croatia. By all means possible this place has lived up to the hype given to it.

Here are some of the highlights of our visit to Dubrovnik:

Day One:

We arrived in Dubrovnik from Split after a scenic drive down the delightful Adriatic coastline. It took us bloody ages to find the place we were staying due to one way roads and poor signage.

We called the bloke from the Dubrovnik youth service and followed his scooter to our new home. Our hosts we very welcoming and spoke little English, but managed to say "No Problem" at least once per sentence.

Went walking throught the old town that night, top quality as old towns go and quality fortifications.

Day Two:

Morto 002.jpg
Went for a walk around the peninsula looking for quality beaches and nudist beaches (only for the culture points though... serious you see enough nudity at the beach as it is)

Morto 018.jpg
Went to the dodgy sounding and dodgy looking night club "Latino Club Fuego"

We had an awesome time with Dangerous Dave and Jono

Morto 006.jpg
Melon and Jono, got on like a house on fire when they realised that Jono knew Ed (Callaghan) and went out with a chick that used to live with Ed.

Dave and Irish friends

Day Three:

Went to the dodgy sounding and dodgy looking night club "Latino Club Fuego"

We had an awesome time with Dangerous Dave and Jono

n2024595_3..93_4415.jpg
We met plenty of people here the second night. Melon, Jono and a new Swedish friend.

n2024595_3..95_5147.jpg
Morto and Melon made a new Norwegian friend, Anna

n2024595_3..94_4782.jpg
Kerr and Hengel with Russian friends

Hengel with one of Dave's new Irish friends

Drunken debauchery

Later that night Kerr (and the rest of us) felt that some swimming to cool down was in order

Day Four:

Went to the dodgy sounding and dodgy looking night club "Latino Club Fuego"

n2024595_3..99_6631.jpg
We had an awesome time with Dangerous Dave and Jono

Morto 016.jpg
We met more friends tonight. Melon with Norwegian friend

n2024595_3..04_8486.jpg
By the end of the night Dangerous Dave couldn't take very good pictures anymore

Day Five:

Final day in Dubrovnik, we hit the beach again and waited until 11pm for our ferry to Italy. Our sleeping patches on the deck were awaiting us. After 8 hours on the boat with little sleep we arrived in Italy

For those of you out there who require more debaucherous information regarding our exploits during this period of time please feel free to email anyone (except morto, cos he is the biggest dog of the lot)

OK so it sounds like we didn't do much else than go to the dodgy sounding and dodgy looking night club "Latino Club Fuego" and go swimming, which is true. But we have plenty of nice photos of that sort of stuff for those interested, but that is boring...

...and back by popular demand... man in chair

Gents I must say that you have made a few friends on your travels, but what you didn't make friends with any Croatian Girls while in Croatia? For shame!
That said I am going to need the address of the that Latino Club in Dubrovnik if for not other reason than to meet all of your new friends!
So glad to see that man in chair has travelled all the way to Croatia with you...

Glad to see you guys are making some new friends. I can sympathise with "man in chair" I have adopted a similar pose at my desk of late due to the riveting nature of the work I have been doing recently. Keep these posts coming...

That is the greatest blog entry I've ever seen! Almost perfect, I'd say. But no dogs. Except the Irish chicks. (I maintain my faith in that sweeping generalisation no matter how clearly wrong I may be proven time and time again.)

But seriously, I nearly crapped myself reading this entry. I'll say it again, I love yous c***s. Great to see so many photos, and great photos of chicks. Melon, that photo of you with Jono and the hot Swede has joined my list of equal best photos I've ever seen. And the one of Kerr swimming is super duper too. Pity you couldn't combine the two concepts - swedish chicks and late-night swimming - I hear that's a great combination. Maybe you did and the photos didn't make it in for one reason or another. Look forward to my digital request for extra information.

Also a little confused to see so many Russian, Swedish, Norwegian and Irish chicks, but no German chicks. Surely there were German chicks there - Germany's closer than Ireland, Sweden and Norway at least. Sure none of you met any German chicks? No new German friends? Please refer to previous comment regarding extra information.

Hengel, buy yourself some bloody sunscreen. Looks like you've got shares in a solarium. Morto too, but I think it looks lovely on you mate.

I love you all. I'm running out of "characters remaining" so will put the rest in emails.

Love from T-Homo.

PS. Thanks for the extra emails dudes.

PPS. Melon, I'm completely, head-over-heels in love with your new Norwegian friend. I hope you did the only sensible thing in that situation. (Talked me up and gave her my contact details just in case she ever comes to Australia.)

Boys - certainly a well-chosen selection of Dangerous Dave's photos. Morto, what a dog: check out http://ufl.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2120241&l=53b13&id=2024595 for further evidence of the joys of 'Latin Club Fuego'.

Those chicks are really hot. However, definitely eastern european in dress sense...lord, midriffs? Most annoying part being that damn Russian chick has the body to get away with it. But only just. The top was lemon with frills. For the love of baboushka (sp?), there is no need for that. Especially in Russia. She seems to like your hairdo, Hengel - the forehead sweep is totally in right now.

G and I reiterate Thommo's comments - we love youse c***s. Oh, and well done for putting up with Dangerous for that long (joke, Dave, I really do love you. Em)

Says you, fashion queen Sandy! As for the hair, chicks dig it and I'm way too tight for a haircut... ever

First thing, we did meet one German chick, but she had an Irish accent. She wanted to be Hengels friend.
Second thing, there was nothing wrong with the way any of our new friends dressed.
And for Fal, the club is just outside the main gate, get there.

Damian good to see you having fun, but honestly I think by the age of 25 you should have learnt not to get sun burnt. Happy Birthday anyway, hope you are having fun where ever you are.

Hi boys...my friends and I just got back from Croatia ourselves...we are all depressed about being home so I've been searching the net for other blogs and came across yours. Looks like you all are having fun! Fuego rocks!
