Sun, Sand and Dooza

Greece, the place is chocca's full of culture

sunny 26 °C

Hello blog checkers,

this one is all about Greece, namely, the Greek Islands. The place is brilliant, and a good time was had by all. Now for some photos...

Having been to Belgium in the cold, it was time for some sun. We packed up our stuff, minus the €5 tents, and headed south. Along the way to the islands, we stopped over in Athens, picked up Dooza, and headed for the islands

Acropolis.JPG

From there we hit Mykonos, a party island according to LP. But the beaches were the main attraction there

Then Morto, Dooza and I headed to Naxos, where Melon, Anne and H. P. Runnalls where waiting after their demon hell ride from Turkey.
We soon rented quads, and were on our way..

Dooza loved it...

With the bikes, we quickly met some locals up the mountain.

After mechanical troubles, we returned back for food, cocktails and a party...

(the guy who took this photo told us it was a good one...)

In Ios, it is not uncommon to see donkeys on the beach.

At the end of our time in Ios, we fond a pretty cool bar, where we could hang out, and listen to former Australian Idol 7th place getter (and that IS an achievement), Millsy, at an open mic night.

Apologies to those wanting Millsy photos, we didn't take any of him, but we did find another "celebrity."

In Santorini, we went for the scooters, although Dooza couldn't handle the swings, and went for a quad instead. It was in Santorini that we found post card-esque scenery,

and a great sunset,

although Dooza was a bit partied out.

We also found a great little spot to jump off,

Santorini jump.JPG

We figured the jump was about 5m high into some of the clearest and deepest water we'd ever seen. For the record, the jump was off the front corner of the island.

And possibly the highlight, a donkey ride up some stairs

Donkey Ride Hannah.JPG

Hannahs donkey was crazy, and even tried to go the wrong way. The owner soon stoped that, but I'm not sure any animal wellfair goups would approve of his methods.

After a few drinks in Santorini, we all headed our seperate ways, although "a few drinks" turned into a few more...

I think it was mandatory to wear helmets in this bakery, but I can't remember.

So that was Greece, a bucket load of fun.

A special mention goes out to Kinga and Will, their advice craps all over Lonely Planet. If you guys are considering a career change, travel writing is right up your alley.

What no picture of the crazy chick from North London? She easily had the 3 best quotes of the trip.

3) "You are the most pathetic man I have ever met"

2) "Please don't think of me and my friends as anything more than the common slut" Paddy and myself response Don't worry we won't.

1) And Top quote: "MENTAL CHICKEN ORIENTAL!!!!!"

In response, yes, I am pumped, and here is my comment:

Great photos Demon, just great. They're all fantastic but I feel an overwhelming need to mention the picture of HP with the coolest dude in the world. In my opinion that approaches the level of "man in chair" (although of course no photo will ever beat that or the legendary "dog in glasgow library window").

Melon with the helmet in the bakery: gold.

And what's the go - Dooza and HP look to be getting fairly cosy in a few of these photos... perhaps I should be listening out for any little bird calls?

I miss youse all and love youse c*nts.

Kerr, keep the pictures of pumped up dogs coming and hilarious place names coming. I love you more than the others at the moment.

Love from the T-Homo.

Cheers for the pump up Kerr. Maybe I'll send an email to Lying Planet to see if they'll send me and Nice over there. It killed me to see a shiteload of photos of places that I've been to and to not have me in them though. Looks like you guys had just a good a time as I did. F***ing amazing place hey?
Pretty sure I filled my scooter at the same petrol station as you in the Naxos photo. Was the guy there a big sloppy greek dude in a white bondsy covered in grease? We were with a local when we filled up and apparently he called us 'filthy pieces of meat.' Nice guy.
And I stayed right on that beach in Mykonos that was in the second photo- can remember buying grilled octopus that had come straight off the boat minutes earlier. The church at Oia- how awesome is that place? Got any photos of you guys doing sweet jumps off the cliff? ... I could go on but I'm killing myself with jealousy now. You lucky bastards.
By the way- if anyone is up for a trip to china in feb kempo and I are committed. Keep up the good work lads.
love will

Whatever. I found a similar photo to the one posted in LP. Kinga, Will, we could easily do this travel guide thing...

Reading these is like having a little holiday in my head, I love it. Thanks for allowing me to associate quad bikes with something other than massive NW Tassie bogan motocross and 'Fox' racing attire. You all look brown as mothers. Tommo - Hannah can't help being a magnet to men of all ages.
